What’s new

You’re on Pack Diet v1.30.

v1.30 Latest 7 Oct 2026

  • Admin is now split into tabs: Users, Activity, Shared links, Gear stats, Security and Site.
  • Admins can suspend an account (logged out everywhere, can’t log in, nothing deleted) or delete it.
  • Activity feed: who signed up, added gear, made, shared or deleted trips. Counts only, never names of gear or trips.
  • Shared links: every shared trip with how many times its link was opened and when.
  • Gear stats: the most common items, brands and types across everyone, plus wishlist favourites.
  • Security: failed and blocked logins and sign-ups for the last 30 days.
  • Site: health check, full database backup, and an announcement shown to everyone.
  • Group headers show worn weight too (“+ 300 g worn”), so a group of only worn items no longer shows 0 g.
  • Shared trips can end with a “Plan your own pack” sign-up card or a small sign-up line for visitors who aren’t logged in. Admins choose card, line or off on the Site tab.
  • “How fast it adds up” chart: labels no longer cut off on phones, and clearer wording.
  • Trip items have a small tick instead of a switch, for a calmer list (dashed box = left out of the totals). Groups keep their switch.
  • Ticks, group switches and checklist boxes respond instantly; saving happens in the background and the totals catch up a moment later.
  • Metric or imperial: choose grams and kilograms or ounces and pounds in Account settings. Gear weights can be typed in ounces; exports stay in grams.
  • Phones no longer zoom in when you tap a text box (form fields are 16 px on touch screens).
  • Shared trips are tidier: quantity only shows when there’s more than one (×4), group headers show just the weight (no percentage), and the “weights are live” note is gone.
  • Four more group colours: sky, teal, lime and sand.
  • Shared trips can show the trip description and item descriptions (both off unless you switch them on). Trip “Notes” are now called “Description”.
  • The share panel folds away: just the switch and a Copy link button, with the link and options (now in two columns) under Options. It remembers open or folded on each device.
  • Admin → Email: check the email settings and send a test message.
  • Activity alerts by email (Admin → Email): choose an address and which events to hear about, such as new sign-ups, locked accounts and blocked sign-ups. Off until you turn them on.
  • Activity now records logins, and can be filtered by kind (sign-ups, logins, gear, trips, sharing, accounts) and by person.
  • Admin → Users shows each person’s country (from their browser’s time zone at sign-up, or their next login for older accounts), with a count per country.
  • Forgot your password? “Forgot password?” on the login page emails a link to choose a new one. Links last an hour, work once, and log you out everywhere else.
  • Admin → Users shows how many times each person has logged in (sortable).
  • Turning off a share link now asks first, and the share panel shows how many times the link has been opened (your own visits aren’t counted).
  • Mark a trip as complete (More menu) with the dates you hiked. The list, quantities and weights are saved as they were, so later gear changes don’t alter the record. Completed trips show only what you carried, with no ticks, switches or checklist, and can’t be edited (except name and notes); duplicate one to plan the next trip, or unlock it.
  • A public home page explaining what Pack Diet does, for people who find it in search. Search engines see the home, sign-up and what’s-new pages only; gear, trips, admin and shared links stay out of search results.
  • This page, linked from the version number in the footer.
  • Database updates are now one button on the admin page instead of SQL files.

v1.18 6 Oct 2026

  • New footer with the ringed planet.

v1.17 6 Oct 2026

  • The Pack Diet logo on the login and sign-up pages, in the header, the browser tab and link previews.
  • One line view on phones shows the item type on the Gear page too, with a switch in the account menu to hide it.
  • New accounts start with Compact list view and the type hidden.
  • Each shared trip can hide item brands and/or types.
  • Sign-ups can be open to anyone, need an invite code, or be closed, set on the admin page.
  • Admin page: who has signed up, last active, gear and trip counts.

v1.10 6 Oct 2026

  • Trip page actions (edit, duplicate, export, delete) moved into one More menu.
  • Version number shown in the footer.
  • Earlier: master gear list, trips with live weights and charts, sharing by link, checklist, duplicate and compare, import and export, item sheet for phones, swap, three list views and account settings.
